"Drullumall" (1995)
Rock band Botnleưja was formed in 1994 @ Hafnarfjƶrưur. They rehearsed @ the garage of the drummer's grandmother. In 1995 they gained popularity after winning the MĆŗsĆktilraunir (Musical Experiments, a sort of Battle of the Bands). The first prize was 25 hours in a recording studio. They used 24 hours to record their debut album "Drullumall" @ StĆŗdĆó Sýrland (Syria) with the help of Jón Skuggi & Addi 800 (Arnþór Ćrlygsson).Album was released November 1995 on Rymur Label.
Botnleưja won the Icelandic Music Award for Best Newcomer in 1995.
For the foreign market the band operated under the name "Silt".
The band members were guitarist & singer Heiưar Ćrn KristjĆ”nsson, bass player Ragnar PĆ”ll Steinsson, and drummer Haraldur Freyr GĆslason.
About 3000 copies were sold in Iceland.

The English band Blur, who had been recording their self-titled album "Blur" in Iceland in 1997, were fans of Botnleưja. Their hit song "Song 2" borrowed the catchy "woo-hoo" from Botnleưja's "Ćiư eruư FrĆ”bƦr". Later that year Botnleưja joined Blur on their UK tour
