Avril Lavigne & Brody Jenner Walking in the East Village

Spotted: Avril Lavigne and boyfriend Brody Jenner walking around NYC with friends yesterday, November 28. Their walk came after the punk-pop princess stopped by Live! with Kelly to perform a lovely acoustic rendition of "Wish You Were Here.' Like the parade performance, Avril censored the song’s lyrics to be more suitable for daytime TV. (The “damn, damn, damns” became “yeah, yeah, yeahs.”) But it didn’t take away from the song’s sentiments.
Later in the show, Avril was back to perform her single, “Smile.” Both tracks are taken from her new album, Goodbye Lullaby, out now.

Whitney Port Plays Hostess at Crest's Holiday Soiree in NYC

Whitney Port played hostess at the Crest ’2 Hours To Sparkling Smiles and Holiday Styles’ Soiree last night in NYC. Allure interviwed Whitney at the event and got all the head to toe deets about her beauty routine:
You're a busy girl. When do you find the time to whiten your teeth?
"I wear Crest's Two Hour Express strips while flying and cooking with my mom. They're fast. In two hours, you're done and you don't have to use them again for three months!"
What about your skin regimen?
"I'm a freak about taking off my makeup before bed, and I use Finer Skin Institute products—cleanser, toner, and moisturizer. I try to get facials every few months, but I should get them more. When I do, I'm like, 'wow, this is really good.'"
Have you picked up any great on-set makeup tips?
"I mix my moisturizer with foundation so it's sheerer, and when I wear red lips, I use matching lip liner on the outside of my lips for a precise shape, and on the inside so the color lasts."
What's your all time favorite makeup?
"I love Fresh Supernova Mascara and CoverGirl LashBlast Volume Mascara, Fresh High Noon Freshface Glow, Clé de Peau's liquid foundation, Essie Fifth Avenue nail polish, and just plain Chapstick on my lips."
When you want to look sexy for a date, what kind of look do you go for?
"I think with guys, less is more. I go for bronzed, dewy skin, nude lips, not too much eyeliner—I just play up my lashes, and put on some pink blush. Normally, I'd say to wear your hair down, but my ex-boyfriend liked when I pulled my hair up on the top of my head."
Speaking of hair, yours looks so healthy. Spill.
"I use Moroccanoil. I love getting blowouts—even when I'm just going to dinner, I'll do my makeup and get dressed, then go to Drybar with wet hair and have them do it."

Kristin Cavallari, Jay Cutler Are Engaged -- Again!

The wedding's back on!
Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler are engaged -- again! The 24-year-old reality star confirmed the news Wednesday on Twitter, writing, "This time it's official. Jay and I are engaged again :)"
She was spotted Tuesday in West Hollywood with her 5.2 carat engagement ring back on. The former Dancing with the Stars contestant and Cutler called off their engagement in July, but the duo had been spotted together several times since packing on the PDA.
Cutler, 28, came out to support the former Hills star on DWTS before she was the third contestant on the show to get the boot.
At the time, Cavallari wouldn't confirm whether she invited her ex to watch her strut to Beyonce's "Crazy in Love" on the show. And of the cameras constantly panning to Cutler? "Well, I have nothing to do with that," she said. "I don't direct where the camera goes."
According to one insider, Cavallari was "blindsided" by the split this summer. "Jay dumped her out of nowhere."
Just two weeks after calling off their engagement, Cavallari and Cutler made the proper etiquette move by returning their wedding gifts.
Earlier this month, one tabloid mag claimed that Cavallari was having an affair with Kourtney Kardashian's beau Scott Disick. "It's 100 percent not true," Cavallari said on The Billy Bush Show, adding that her ex-fiance "didn't believe [the report] forone second."
Check out the photos below of Kristin & her dog Bardot out in West Hollywood on Monday, November 28.

looking pretty, feeling fine

Somewhere in the middle of the story I am about to relate there is a moral - I'm struggling to find it, but I just know it's in there somewhere.

Maybe I should start at the beginning.  Yesterday afternoon I had an appointment to shoot pictures for the latest in my 'French girlfriend' series,  it was a beautiful day, I decided to cycle the 20km there and back.  Had a great time, easy ride, stopped to take some pictures en route, picked some berries for the imminent Christmas wreath, ... all went like a dream.

Stay with me, there is a point coming ....

At 5pm I collected my youngest from school and stopped at the sports shop on the way home.  Well, you can imagine after 20km on my bike, I was feeling like a positive sporty saint, and we sailed around the store looking enthusiastically at all sorts of instruments of torture  exercise machines, then we got to the cycle stand where my son was thrilled to find an electric bike and asked permission to try.  A very nice young salesman tried to sell it to us explained what a marvellous machine it was, and my boy was off.  Well, it looked such fun and I was feeling so sporty for the afore mentioned reasons, that I expressed the desire to have a go too.

Now you can see where this is going ....

Let me tell you never to ride a bike inside a shop with highly polished concrete flooring.  I sailed up and down a couple of alleys like a real pro, and was attracting rounds of applause and gasps of admiration (OK,  that bit I made up) until the last bend, where the bike and I parted company!  The shiny floor took control of the brand new wheels and pulled them from beneath me.

I am sorry to report that the first part of my body to hit the ground was my cheekbone, now black and swollen, hence the photo at the top of this post.  The resemblance is alarming, but there's no way I'm showing you a photo so you'll have to take my word on that one.

My sweet son  managed to mutter something about it being quite cool to have a mother who wants to try things out;  the staff in the store were in a frenzy, worried no doubt that I was about to sue, but I'm not that kind of a girl!

It is extremely annoying to have to admit that one is growing older, and although I don't feel I should abstain from being very active,  I guess that  age dictates that we have to become more wary of what we do - especially in public!!

Take care today!!

Real Living HER Realtor Terry Penrod Reaches Charitable Giving Milestone

COLUMBUS, Ohio (November 30, 2011) — Real Living HER is proud to congratulate Real Living Mortgage and Realtor Terry Penrod for generating $10,000 in donations to local charities.

Through the Sharing Advantage Program from Real Living Mortgage and Wells Fargo, Terry’s clients were able to support local 501(c) (3) organizations at no cost to them. A select few of the charities have been: Habitat for Humanity, American Cancer Society, Victorian Village Society, St. John’s High School, Stonewall Columbus, Equality Ohio Education Fund and various local churches. Simply by Terry communicating the program and his clients designating the charity, Real Living Mortgage was able to make a $300 donation at the time of a closing.

“I always look forward to helping people understand the home buying process. There is so much to know and I love helping people find their dream home,” said Terry Penrod. “I have really enjoyed letting people know they can also do good in the community through Sharing Advantage.”

“This is an innovative program that is offered nationwide, but Terry has really embraced it and his clients’ charities have greatly benefited,” said June Zepp, Home Mortgage Consultant, Real Living Mortgage.

Decisions decisions

Sometimes making the smaller decisions is harder than making the big decisions.
Now that we have sold our house we finally feel free to plan and choosing appliances is at the top of our list. We will have a bar fridge , microwave and a toaster oven on move in day for sure but we will need some harder working and larger appliances to truly function.

How come we could choose the house in about an hour and choosing a stove can takes days and days. Normally I am a fan of the smooth top stove because of the ease of cleaning , but of course I love the look of a commercial gas range. I do have a little fear of gas but I am going to try and get over it because there is nothing like it or so I hear . But we could never afford a Viking or a Wolf , unless there was a ridiculous instant rebate , then wouldn't it be crazy to not get this top of the line stove? This is still such a tough decision, we needed to sleep on it. We measured and looked and looked and measured so so many models , from Ge to an Italian beauty and then Viking.
Did you know that the interior space of a 30"commercial range can be significantly smaller than a regular 30" stove, and that is can take 45 minutes or more to heat up a 36" stove because of the extra width now if you have kids you know that is a lot of extra time at dinner. Still Viking are you freakin serious !!! Ok it is only marginally more than a very nice GE Cafe model I had some what decided on, and I think we would be regretting not getting the one we really love. We are giving up a warming drawer but I think we can live without that . Adding a beautiful color is an extra $1000 so that is a NO. Sounds like we've made the decision, doesn't it?
We will be sure to save on all the other appliances , I don't need a fancy washer and dryer and as long as I get a tall tub stainless dishwasher I'm good it doesn't need to be high end.
Splurge and save right , well this is really both splurge and save.
I saved here , I found this light which is normally $149.00 for $50.00 at a used building store , it is new in box and everything, I got two actually. 20 more lights to go...I have always wanted one of these lights. I think they will end up in the entry hall.
Making over the standard cabinets is a huge save , I will be painting the cabinets and adding a frieze as well as crown moulding. I will also be customizing this fridge wall,  I love this area, I think it will look great when completed. I toyed with the painted cream cabinets that were very nice but that upgrade was more than my new stove , so that was an easy decision and as well I can go with a custom color of my choosing and I will always be able to do touch ups.

I will be adding a farm house sink just before we have stone counters installed, I found a farmhouse sink for $600.00. Instead of eliminating our standard laminate counters we had our friends choose something that they would like , there was no benefit to eliminate it, and now they can take our new counters and cut them down to their kitchen and can even have the kitchen sink. Everybody wins and we move into a house that is ready to use. I'm still working on the kitchen sink wall, I think this layout keeping the uppers to the right and open shelving to the left maybe what we need. I added lots of drawers to the kitchen , going from 4 to 10 , how exciting.
I have noticed lots of people in the blog world who have recently completed a kitchen reno have gone ahead with carrara., I was so thrilled to find out that it is well priced . I will be sure to keep up on the sealing to prevent damage because there is nothing like it , this is a definite splurge but a huge savings sourcing it ourselves. This will be my dream kitchen , I plan on living in this home for many many years so I think its a good decision to do it right once.
Saving will come with me doing everything else , like the hardwood , maybe tiling the floor spaces that need tile, definitely the back splash , all the lighting , so much painting , lots of moulding, landscaping... its gonna take years I tell ya, but that sounds fine to me, I'm a girl who needs a project.
In sad news I just found out that my dream island lights are $1250.00 each....each! Well it makes my other choice look like a bargain now , because I need two for over my island. I would not spend $2500 on two lights , not ever.

I am on the hunt for great deals , Happy Holiday's everyone.

The Most Cataclysmic Chapter of the Bible.

Rev 16

Rev 16:17 And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done. 18 And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great. 19 And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath. 20 And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. 21 And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great.

The 7 vials poured out upon the earth by the 7 angels produce mayhem on the grandest scale the planet has ever seen. A quick rundown:
Vial #1: a noisome and grievous sore on all who have the mark of the beast and who worship his image.
Vial #2: seas are turned to blood and all sea life dies.
Vial #3: all rivers and fountains of water are turned to blood.
Vial #4: the sun is enhanced until it scorches men with fire.
Vial #5: the kingdom of the beast is filled with such intense darkness that it is painful to the point where men gnaw their tongues.
Vial #6: the Euphrates is dried up. Demons are belched out of the mouth of Satan, sent forth to round up the armies of the world and draw them to Armageddon.
Vial #7: God declares, "I have had enough!" Lightening, thunders and the worst earthquake in history decimates the landscape. Islands disappear, the mountains crumble, 100 pound hailstones fall from the sky.

Friend, this old sinful world is winding down. So is the patience of heaven. The ages of godlessness have worn thin on the longsuffering of the Lord. He is not willing that any should perish, however, He warned that His Spirit would not always strive with man. Now, the ages are drawing to a close. About 6 1/2 years following the rapture, these events will unfold. It is high time to choose sides. Make sure you are on the right team so you will be an observer during this horrific time rather than a participant.
