Mat 18:32 Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: 33 Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee? 34 And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.
This enthralling lesson of forgiveness by the Lord carries with it a
stern warning. It is imperative that we forgive. If not, we stand in
peril of being delivered to the tormenters.
Can it be, that in the age of grace, we could receive such retribution
for simply harboring unforgiveness? Unequivocally, yes!
The tormentors employed in extracting our forgiveness:
1. Guilt
2. Bitterness
3. Emotional distress
4. Sorrow
5. Misery
6. Lack of success
Once they have tormented us to the point of exasperation and
complete failure, once they have brought us to the end of our
supposed need of harboring unforgiveness of another, perhaps then
we will let go and grant complete pardon to the one who has offended
us.
Aren't you getting tired of debtor's prison? Give up the resentment and make things right with God and whoever is the target of your venom.
